Our History
Thabeban State School has been proudly serving the Bundaberg community since 30 April 1917, providing more than a century of quality public education. The school opened with an enrolment of just 43 students, led by its first Head Teacher, Mr Richard H. Ingram.
Situated on Goodwood Road, our school has grown alongside the Thabeban community, evolving from a small rural school into a vibrant learning environment that has educated generations of local families.
Throughout its history, Thabeban State School has remained committed to providing every child with opportunities to learn, succeed and reach their full potential.
The school occupies a spacious 7.5-hectare campus, offering expansive grounds, multiple play areas and excellent learning facilities that continue to support students both inside and outside the classroom.
In 2017, Thabeban State School proudly celebrated its Centenary, recognising 100 years of public education and honouring the thousands of students, families, staff and community members who have shaped the school's rich history. The celebration acknowledged not only our proud past but also our ongoing commitment to preparing students for the future.
